Old Joe Meek & the Santa Muerte
The Santa Muerte is a deep seated belief in an ancient saint of death. Legend has it that it the middle ages during the plagues, crematoriums were used to dispose of the dead bodies. A woman the, "Saint of Death," would prepare the corpses for the incineration and attach a red scarf to the corpses. The Santa Muerte is the female grim reaper- sort of satanic cult about violence and death....the Mexican death cult. The followers bring offerings of tequilla or food. They seek protection from enemies, sexual prowess or fufillment of your darkest desires, problems with the law, finding a job, and maybe a silent death. Many criminals, the Mexican underworld and the disenfranchised poor look to the Santa Muerte for leadership and protection. Recently in Nuevo Laredo, a rough border town, the Mexican Army dismantled 30 shrines to the Santa Muerte. The objective being to prevent it from becoming a role model for youth or young children. The Santa Muerte is a widespread cult and is not likely easily supported by the Mexican Government.

Anti puppy mill protesters shot at Aquarium & Pet Center in Santa Monica
www.caps-web.org Aqaurium & Pet Center, Santa Monica, animal welfare advocats were shot at during a protest. The store sells pet factory animals and is supplied by the notorious Hunte Corp, a large scale dog dealer and broker. The owner claims the dogs come from "local" breeders. One of his local breeders is a puppy mill in Littlerock CA that was busted last year. The Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) staged a protest in front of the Aquarium & Pet Center to protest the retailer's alleged sale of "puppy mill" dogs, or purebred pups that have been bred in inhumane conditions. That's when the shots rang out.

"Pets of Wilshire" - Anti-Puppy Mill Protest Santa Monica
Companion Animal Protection Society pro-adoption, anti-puppy mill protest at Pets of Wilshire in Santa Monica CA. This store has been known to sell sick dogs, dogs from puppy mills and currently, they are selling dogs from an unlicensed backyard breeder. They have lied about where their animals are from and they have lied about going humane. There are many consumer complaints about his store and they are currently under investigation.
